Sue Akehurst is a Senior Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. She has a broad experience of working as a counsellor & supervisor in a number of settings including Child and Adolescent Mental health, a GP practice and a large Employee Assistance Programme. Her private practice in Birmingham & Malvern includes both long and short term work with adults and adolescents.

She holds a Diploma in Person Centred counselling, an Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Methods as well as Certificates in Person Centred Art Therapy and Supervision. Her current interests include issues of identity and stigma, the body-mind relationship, trauma and attachment. Sue uses art, images, the breath and bodily felt sensations within counselling sessions.

Through the disciplines of counselling and supervision Sue became interested in the body/mind connection and she has a deep respect for the wisdom of the body. This led her to qualifying as a Zero Balancing practitioner in 2007. Zero Balancing is a form of bodywork which can offer a gently nourishing experience: throughout the process tensions are released, a natural balance is restored & wholesome realignments are revealed whilst lying fully clothed on a massage couch.

Sue's interests include walking, tai chi, meditation and the arts.

If you are unable to keep your appointment please give at least 48 hours notice or the full fee may be charged.
