What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?
Solution Focused hypnotherapy is a brain based therapy which uses practical, modern and well researched strategies to help people make significant positive change in a relatively short period of time.
Hypnotherapy is a combination of psychotherapy, some of the best techniques from CBT (Cognitive behavioural Therapy) and NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming) and hypnosis. The psychotherapy in itself it very beneficial and its effects are strengthened by the relaxation of positive hypnosis which enables the subconscious mind to make beneficial change.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy does not involve analysing painful memories from the past; we acknowledge they have happened and help you to get from where you are to where you want to be. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention. In this relaxed state, your mind is more receptive and responsive to suggestion. In a therapeutic setting, the suggestions are created to be beneficial to help you change unhelpful thought patterns. In many ways it is like daydreaming and is a very pleasant and relaxing experience. Clinical hypnosis is nothing like the image portrayed in the media. The therapist cannot take control of your mind and no one can hypnotise you against your will. You remain in complete control at all times.

What to expect at a hypnotherapy session
Sessions are individually tailored to help you overcome the difficulties that you are currently facing and to help you reach your goals. The initial consultation is designed to assess what you want to achieve. I will talk you through how the brain works so that you can understand why you feel the way you do, and how hypnotherapy can help. This is also a chance for you to see if you think hypnotherapy is the right approach for you. I will then
guide you into a relaxed state of hypnosis. You will be given a CD to listen to at home which will significantly reinforce the process.
The number of sessions needed will vary, for example:
· treatment of phobias would normally require 3- 4 sessions
· treatment of anxiety and/or depression may require approximately 8 -12 sessions but sometimes more
· Anti-smoking is a one-off double session
