Throughout her working life she has specialised in supporting women, young people and children, exploring with them how families function and supporting change. Much of her postgraduate course has included exploring these issues further including looking at new homoeopathic remedies many of which can be hugely useful in supporting people as they deal with the stresses on modern family life. She has also studied with internationally acclaimed homoeopath Jeremy Sherr, completing his two year postgraduate course in 2005.
She has also done specific training in homoeopathy for children, troubled teenagers and treating mental health issues including post natal depression. She also offers home visits where appropriate.

Sue Akehurst works within the person-centred approach where a commitment to being real, empathic attunement to the other and an invitation the meet at relational depth are at the core of the work. She aims to offer a collaborative non-judgemental stance where client and therapist can both be curious about the processes explored and experienced both in the client's life and in the counselling relationship. The whole person is invited to enter the counselling room, unique, interesting and to be respected in their complexity whatever their reasons for coming to see her.
Sue worked in education for over 20 years, then from 1998 onwards she focussed on counselling, working with people of all ages and backgrounds. She holds a diploma in person centred counselling (Warwick University), and certificates in Person Centred Art Therapy and Supervision. She is an accredited member of the BACP and an independent registered counsellor with the UKRC. She has worked as a therapist in many settings including GP practice, child and adolescent mental health and the Terence Higgins Trust and has also helped students in further and adult education. Her current interests include issues of identity and stigma, the body-mind relationship, trauma and attachment. Sue uses art, images, the breath and bodily felt sensations within counselling sessions.
Through the disciplines of counselling and supervision Sue became interested in the body/mind connection and she has a deep respect for the wisdom of the body. This led her to exploring Zero Balancing, finally qualifying as a Zero balancing practitioner in 2007.

Thank you for showing an interest in the Beacon Clinic.
The Beacon Clinic values practitioners who are dedicated, highly motivated and skilled in their area of expertise and have a keenness to work with like-minded practitioners.
We are currently have vacancies in the team for:
Whilst practitioners work as independent therapists, those who choose to work at the clinic are keen to share their skills and to learn about the skills of their fellow practitioners for the benefit of patients. They are responsible for the building of their own practice through the development of their own reputation as an expert therapist in their own right. At the same time, practitioners contribute to and become part of the team at the clinic, including attending evening joint practitioner education meetings.
Interested practitioners are welcome to contact the directors, Drs Martin and Sue Allbright, who will be pleased to meet you informally and show you around the clinic facilities. If you wish to apply to work with us, we would then need a C.V., references and evidence of qualifications and insurance. An interview process then follows involving other practitioners with similar interest areas, carried out in a friendly and informal manner. The directors involve the team practitioners in the process since we all value the sense of community and mutual trust that exists here.
If you like what you have seen on our website, and you have expertise you would like to share in such an environment, we look forward to hearing from you.
